About Us

ShareLingo is a different kind of Language Option

Here at ShareLingo, we're dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and understanding through language learning.

Our mission is to aid individuals from diverse backgrounds to connect, practice together, and build meaningful friendships across cultures and often across borders.

We believe that language is not just a tool for communication but a bridge that unites people, enhances empathy, and enriches communities.

Our Purpose

At ShareLingo, we recognize the challenges posed by language barriers in today's interconnected world.

In our world of computers and new AI models, many would have you believe that language learning is an individual pursuit.   Nothing could be further from the truth.  Language is a social skill. It is practiced among human beings.  Language defines us.

For many, the single biggest barrier to mastering a new language is simply finding someone to practice with.

Our innovative approach combines personalized language exchange with community engagement, allowing English and Spanish speakers to learn from one another in a supportive environment.

Through our unique ShareLingo Method, along with the Connect Practice Platform we facilitate authentic interactions that enhance language skills while promoting cultural appreciation.

We are bringing the Human Factor back into the language learning process.

The ShareLingo Foundation (a Social Enterprise) was first developed by founder James Archer in 2013-2014.

It steadily grew in the Denver, Colorado market for many years and facilitated ShareLingo groups in Schools, Community Centers, Churches, the YMCA, United Way, and other non-profit organizations, as well as providing language learning services to banks, hotels, construction and landscaping businesses, and other for-profit businesses.

In 2020, due to COVID, all of ShareLingo's face-to-face meetings ended almost overnight, and we were forced to consider online options for Language Exchange. This was also the period when the founder moved from Denver to Phoenix.

From 2024-2026, a new practice portal, ShareLingo Connect, was created, and a pilot program working with a high school in Mindo, Ecuador, took place.

In 2026, recognizing that lack of language skills is a critical barrier for many people to advance, James decided to register The ShareLingo Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit entity. The Foundation's mission is to make ShareLingo's unique Language Exchange model, method, and materials more widely available to disadvantaged and underserved communities.

As of March, 2026, The ShareLingo Foundation is an Arizona Non-Profit Corporation and is awaiting approval of its 501(c)3 status. Follow ShareLingo.ORG for updates on the status of the application.
